“If you bond over the Smiths, for example, that’s not good,” Neustadter said. “That’s a recipe for disaster.”
one of the guys who wrote 500 days of summer talks about how every relationship has a soundtrack in the la times.
for some reason this annoys the shit out of me.
He’s wearing a LOVE WILL TEAR US APART shirt. Do you see the RED LORRY YELLOW LORRY label? They are in A RECORD STORE bonding. This movie looks like the most annoying thing ever. (Maybe it will be good. I probably will have to watch it with Mary.)
I liked you better when you were playing a molested teenage whore, Joseph Gordon-Levitt!
I think my main source of annoyance over this movie concept is that Zooey Deschanel appears to be starring as herself and I believe I’m the only person with a Tumblr who does not think she is “all that”. Chances will be given though.
Everything about this picture makes me want to smash something.
To me, this film definitely marks some kind of watershed - we’ve now officially entered a new era of cynical “indie” film-making where, in place of real art, we’re given a carefully selected but tediously predictable playlist; where “costume design” means deciding which band t-shirts our protagonist should wear; and where every single fucking thing in this frame has been placed there in a deliberate and totally transparent attempt to gain some kind of credibility among the gullible fucktards who will inevitably (ironically or not) pay to see this film.
I know this is not a unique perspective - most people I’ve spoken to are as enraged as I am by everything they’ve heard or seen so far - which leads me to wonder, who is the target demographic? What section of the populus is still oblivious to the indie-by-numbers film method? Can we do something about it? If you care at all, you’ll make everyone you know watch this:
